Details: A Kayaking Taster session in Shepperton with Surrey Canoe Club. This will be followed by picnic and games on the most beautiful stretch of the River Thames in Surrey! Bring your own hampers, Sauvignon Blanc, games and sense of humour. Kayaking Taster Session will last from 2pm to 4pm and will be led by a coach from Surrey Canoe Club. It will cover the basics of paddling and there should be time for trip out on the river and boat based games on The Thames. Cost is £15.00 by cheque (£16.00 if paying by credit card) and includes kayak hire, life jacket and insurance. Bring change of clothes. Numbers for kayaking are limited and you must contact us beforehand if you wish to come. Picnic is open to all. We will be meeting near to The Thames Lodge pub. Kayakers should be finished and joining picnickers from 4.30 onwards. Feel free to bring your own games eg Volleyball, Swingball et al. Details: We will be based at Sandyholme, in the delightful village of Studland in the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. Sandyholme is a substantial character house set in lovely grounds with nearby sandy beaches, cliff top walks along the Jurassic Coast and much more. Accommodation details can be found at: www.sandyholme.org.uk. Arrive anytime from 5 p.m. on Friday and we will be leaving after lunch on Sunday. Full weekend details will be given upon booking (with a minimum payment of 50% - balance will be due by 30th April). Weekend cost of only £60 includes: Welcome hot drink and cakes on arrival. Breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday. Optional packed lunch for Saturdy. Either a day at the beautiful beach, or a led lovely coastal walk. Saturday evening BBQ. Please note additional optional costs will be cost of ferry (Sandbanks to Studland) £3.50each way, bedding and pillows £5 (if you don’t bring your own, open top return bus fare £3 if you goon the walk, pub meals on both Friday evening and Sunday lunch.Please also note the following; Hot drinks will be available all weekend, and soft drinks will be available with BBQ. (However if you would like alcohol, please bring your own). All rooms are shared dorms, (see Sandyholme website for details). You may want to bring your own drinks container/thermos to carry drink to beach or on walk Remember to bring your own beach gear, towels, rucksack (if going on the walk), and torch. Details: The 2012 Life of Christ performances will take place from Tuesday 19th June to Sunday 24th June, starting at 10 a.m. and finishing at 4 p.m. We are looking to take a group to the Saturday performance and if you want to join us please book your ticket from Wintershall asap - (the Saturday performance is usually the one that sells out first - so don't miss out) and let us know and we can arrange, should you want to, to meet up for the day. Details: Approx 4.5 miles. "A Wimbledon Wander". Including a picnic or cafe lunch stop and a visit to the Windmill museum on Wimbledon Common. Meet main entrance of Wimbledon BR Main Railway and Underground Station (District Line), 11:30am, Saturday 29th September. Please wear comfortable footwear and bring clothing suitable for the weather forecast. This will be a relaxing day, taken at a gentle pace. Depending on time spent at the museum, we aim to be back at the start point, circa 5pm. The walk will take in the social history of Wimbledon, the streets of Wimbledon Village, part of Wimbledon Common, the windmill museum (£2 entry) and a brief visit to the town history museum (free of charge) towards the end of the walk. If we are lucky we may also see some Wombles! Lunch will be at the halfway point, if the weather is good enough, please feel free to bring your own picnic lunch with you. Alternatively a variety of food is available at the cafe next to the windmill (guideline: hot meal circa £9). If people wish, there may be an option to go for drinks and/or meal at the end of the walk, at Wimbledon Broadway. Please let us know in advance if you would like to join us.
